
New Bedford Medical Associates is a multispecialty group of physicians established in 1995 in New Bedford, MA. It now has 27 physicians and 14 nurse practitioners and physicians assistants located in 12 sites. In addition to Internal Medicine and Family Practice we have sub specialists in Cardiology, Gastroenterology, Pulmonology, Orthopedics and General Surgery.
Our most westerly office is in Swansea, MA. and most easterly site is Wareham, MA. All our doctors admit to the "Southcoast Hospital Systems" a consortium of three General Hospitals which include Charlton Memorial Hospital in Fall River, MA (300 + beds), St Lukes Hospital in New Bedford, MA, (300 + beds) and Tobey Hospital in Wareham, MA (110 beds). Our physicians admit to one or more of these hospitals.
Charlton Memorial Hospital also has an Open Heart Surgical Program which began in 2002. In a recent survey this service was ranked among the Top Five in Massachusetts. In addition, all three hospitals have instituted a Hospitalist program. St. Lukes has recently instituted an intensivist program.
Our corporate office is in Fairhaven, MA a suburb of New Bedford. We are about one hours drive from Boston, MA with its three medical schools (Harvard, Tufts and Boston University) and less than one hour drive to Providence, RI which has Brown University Medical School, thus, not only are we near academic institutions but we have easy access for medical consultations. Our schools are good to excellent with a considerable number of independent and parochial institutions.
New Bedford Medical Associates serves the South Coast of Massachusetts ranging from the eastern end of Rhode Island to Cape Cod. This affords easy access to Cape Cod, Martha's Vineyard, Nantucket, Buzzards Bay, Newport, RI and the Atlantic Ocean.
